Burger and Fries Pot Pie

Beef and potatoes come together in this cheesy pot pie that’s baked to perfection - a savory dinner..

Burger and Fries Pot Pie

Servings: 6

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
  • 2 cups frozen crispy French-fried potatoes (from 20-oz bag)

Instructions:

  1. Heat oven to 450°F. In 12-inch nonstick skillet, cook beef and onion over medium-high heat about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain well. Sprinkle flour over beef mixture. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Stir in tomatoes; heat to boiling. Remove from heat.
  2. In ungreased 1 1/2-quart casserole, spread beef mixture. Sprinkle with cheese. Arrange frozen potatoes evenly in single layer on top.
  3. Bake uncovered about 20 minutes or until potatoes are golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Tips:

Be sure to drain the cooked ground beef really well. Any extra juices will make the pot pie too watery.

When it’s too cold outside to grill those burgers, comfort food calls, and this pot pie will surely hit the spot!

Serve this pot pie with ketchup, if desired.

Comments

  1. I like the concept of the recipe but there are no seasonings. This looks boring and bland.

  2. I added my own seasonings! Pepper, salt, sometimes garlic salt

  3. I made this for my family of 7. I used ground turkey instead of beef, and sautéed some sweet onion and green pepper in with the meat. For seasonings I used minced garlic, Alpine Touch, and garlic powder (my family enjoys garlic :) ) I also added a layer of dill pickle slices to the top before adding the cheese. It was a big hit, but I think I will cut back on the cheese next time- it got a little greasy on top with the french fries.

Slow Cooker "Melt in Your Mouth" Pot Roast

This recipe has proven to produce thee best pot roast I've ever made.  Every component is pure perfection.  The meat is juicy and fall-apart tender.  The vegetables are cooked just right and are full of flavor.  The seasonings are simply spot on and the broth yields a fabulous gravy-like sauce that is divine when poured over everything prior to serving. We usually have leftovers of this, so we often make hash the following day.  The leftover roast is, also, fabulous utilized in a hot roast beef sandwich for lunch. Yields 4 - 6 servings.
